Industry First: VistaJet Abolishes Positioning Fees Globally

To free its Program customers from expensive ferry fees, company will never charge them for positioning an aircraft anywhere in the world.

  • Positioning fees can cost customers an additional five-figures on each flight.
  • Other business aviation companies charge for positioning fees when leaving their limited service areas.
  • The announcement is a result of VistaJet’s $2.5bn investment in its global fleet and proprietary backend operations technology.
  • Company took on 15 new business jets in 2016, taking the total fleet to over 70, to offer one-way pricing around the globe.
  • Follows 100,000th VistaJet flight record.

LONDON, May 19, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — VistaJet, the first and only global aviation company, announced today that it has abolished hourly ferry flight fees for new Program customers globally. Uniquely in the industry, the commitment applies no matter where in the world a customer is flying to or from. The move signals a significant commitment to VistaJet’s mission to be the first operator to offer a truly global service. Its customers now have complete freedom when booking, without bearing the burden of paying a ferry flight hourly rate for an aircraft to return to a home base or service area, and enjoying truly transparent pricing.

Positioning fees have traditionally been a frustrating and unexpected cost for business aviation clients. Currently, most companies in the sector make their customers pay for the cost of returning the empty plane to its home airport or service area after a flight is completed. Depending on location, this can add tens of thousands to the overall cost of a flight. For example, if a customer stepped onboard a London based aircraft towards Australia, the cost of returning the aircraft to its home base could add more than $100,000 to the overall cost of the journey.

The revolutionary new offering has been made possible by the $2.5bn investment the company has made to grow its fleet to a global scale, as well as its effort to establish a global customer base through its 10 sales offices around the globe. The company’s unique business model, built on removing the notion of a home base for its aircraft, means customers only pay for the time they are in the air: when a VistaJet Program customer books a flight, VistaJet will simply move the nearest plane to pick them up.

Unlike business jet charter, VistaJet owns every one of the over 70 silver and red aircraft in its fleet, so customers know what will greet them on the tarmac anytime, anywhere in the world. The company has invested in an industry leading operations centre in the European country of Malta, and created an innovative infrastructure with the capacity to manage global flights 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It has also established offices on 5 continents, managing flights to over 1,600 airports in 187 countries to date.

Chairman and Founder Thomas Flohr said:
“When you call a taxi, you don’t worry about paying for its journey to you. Today’s entrepreneur or business executive will be flying to America one week, Asia or South America the next, and Europe in between, so it’s become critical to offer them a truly global service. The sustained investment we’ve made for the past 13 years has been calculated to ensure we can offer our customers something completely ground-breaking: one way pricing around the globe.

At VistaJet, we challenge ourselves every day to offer the best experience in the industry. So along with knowing that our customers will only pay for the time they are in the air, when they fly with us they know that they will receive the very best service, with everything tailored to their specific needs.”

Award Winning Private Jet Company Launches WeChat Sales Platform

VistaJet announces digital channel dedicated to its rapidly expanding customer base in China

  • VistaJet saw strong growth in Greater China in 2016, accounts for 17% of current customer base
  • Company is first international private aviation operator to offer flight booking service via WeChat
  • Platform gives exclusive access to 72 silver and red private jets to fly all over the globe, as well as domestic flights in China
  • Customers can request flights and speak one-to-one with the team on WeChat

SHANGHAI, China, April 11, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — VistaJet, the first and only global aviation company, today announced at the Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai that it is the first international private aviation operator to launch a WeChat sales platform available for instant global fleet access. Aimed at those who frequently charter business aircraft, the innovative platform will allow Chinese corporations, travel departments, and ultra-high net worth individuals to request flights in the simplest way. The WeChat service is the latest route to providing access to VistaJet’s fleet of 72 silver and red Global and Challenger aircraft, straight from customers’ mobiles.

A photo accompanying this announcement is available at http://www.globenewswire.com/NewsRoom/AttachmentNg/16025cdc-8101-46cf-b918-2b405ea6c83d

The launch of the VistaJet WeChat sales platform stems from the company’s careful observation of the local market and close collaboration with its Chinese customers and partners on its technology strategy. With 17% of its global customer base represented by the greater China region, the company observed that the majority of principal Chinese customers use WeChat instant messaging to communicate directly with their dedicated sales representatives.

By developing this digital channel, VistaJet saw the potential to offer its award-winning private jet travel experience to a larger, digitally active customer base. Its sales teams are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to support users of the WeChat platform. Customers will be able to request one-off charter flights or purchase blocks of flying hours through the Company’s signature Program product. The onboard experience will be just as tailored: Passengers can enjoy an authentic Chinese tea service, request Mandarin and Cantonese speaking cabin staff, and may order dining options from their favourite restaurant or hotel.

VistaJet’s performance in Greater China was particularly strong in 2016, contributing to a 23% growth in flight traffic during the year. In Q1 2017, the Company has doubled sales of flight hours compared to Q1 2016, and the momentum is expected to continue. VistaJet has been offering its international flight experience on domestic China flights since 2015 when it placed its first dedicated Chinese-registered aircraft in  partnership with Apex Air. The most visited cities in Mainland China in 2016 were Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou. The top 3 overseas destinations departing from Mainland China in 2016 were Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Seoul.

VistaJet was voted the Best Charter Operator Award 2016 by Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) and Business Jet Operator Star Performer 2017 at Hurun Report’s ‘Best of the Best’ Awards.

Founder and Chairman Thomas Flohr said:

“For VistaJet, being global means not only flying our customers anywhere they wish to go to, but also creating a service dedicated to regional cultural demands. Our Chinese consumers don’t tend to use email as a primary communication tool, and instead pointed us to the incredible popularity of WeChat. Launching a WeChat service is a huge opportunity to allow people to talk to our team – anytime, anywhere – and enable us to provide Chinese customers with the best experience in the industry.

VistaJet has enjoyed a successful relationship with China since the company’s creation in 2004. China is a priority market for us, and is driving the increasing demand and double-digit growth VistaJet has enjoyed every year. Last year, 40% of VistaJet’s new business came from customers moving away from fractional or full aircraft ownership and we are now seeing this reflected in China. For Chinese customers who require guaranteed aircraft availability 365 days a year, WeChat could genuinely become an alternative to ownership – merely instant message our team, and we’ll organise the rest, to your own specific taste.”

VistaJet completes 100,000th flight as whole and fractional aircraft purchases decline

Company records 40% of new business from former aircraft owners as customers shift toward sharing economy models

  • Company took on 15 new business jets in 2016, equaling 26% fleet growth
  • Has now connected 250,000 passengers to over 1,600 airports in 187 countries
  • New customers included principals as young as 25, and major technology companies purchasing 400+ flight hours
  • 40% of its new business in 2016 came from customers moving away from fractional or full aircraft ownership

LONDON, March 13, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — VistaJet, the first and only global aviation company, today announced that it has safely performed over 100,000 flights in its history, recording significant growth as corporations and UHNWIs continue using business jets to travel the world.

http://www.globenewswire.com/NewsRoom/AttachmentNg/a3b654d1-e790-4450-8576-695e75cd1824

In the first nine months of 2016, 7.7% fewer new aircraft were delivered year-on-year, and the total number of deliveries remained at the same level as it was in 20121. At the same time, VistaJet took on 15 brand new business jets in 2016 to meet increasing demand, equaling 26% fleet growth. The company has now connected 250,000 passengers to over 1,600 airports in 187 countries.

The company forecasts this growth to continue as a rising number of millennials enter the business aviation market and look to participate in the shared economy trend rather than own a depreciating asset. Among its new customers were principals as young as 25, and major technology companies purchasing 400+ flight hours for their executives to fly worldwide. The firm reports that 40% of its new business in 2016 came from customers moving away from fractional or full aircraft ownership in favour of anytime access to its global fleet.

VistaJet Program customers accounted for the majority of the company’s business in 2016. The VistaJet Program is a bespoke solution aimed at individuals and corporations flying between 50 and 1,000+ hours per year, offering guaranteed access anytime and anywhere to a global fleet of silver and red branded aircraft.

As part of its 71 business jets, VistaJet now also counts the largest privately owned Global 6000 and Challenger 350 fleet in the industry. In 2016 the company moved its global headquarters to growing European business hub, Malta, whilst expanding its offices in key cities such as Los Angeles, New York City, Hong Kong, Seoul and Lisbon.

Chairman and Founder Thomas Flohr said:

“What we’re seeing is that due to broader uncertainty and changing attitudes to ownership, while entrepreneurs and corporations want the flexibility and convenience of using a business aircraft, they don’t want the asset risk or the up-front costs. Celebrating our 100,000th flight is a real indication that customers have found the answers they are looking for in our business model. We have invested in our fleet, our people, and our global infrastructure, to offer an unmatched service.

We pride ourselves on providing the support and resources companies need to do business. Whether that is organising complex trips to multiple, remote destinations or arranging for meetings to take place in-flight, regardless of where in the world they are, we are there for our customers when they need us.”

Flight Research, Inc. completes world’s first Supersonic Civilian Upset Recognition and Recovery Training Course

The Flight Research Upset Recognition and Recovery Training combats the number one cause of worldwide fatal aircraft accidents; Flight Research, Inc. is the only provider of URRT in supersonic aircraft for professional pilots

MOJAVE, Calif., Feb. 06, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Flight Research instructor and former NASA astronaut Billy Oefelien just gave a certificate of completion to the first ever civilian professional pilot to complete upset training in supersonic flight. Oefelien says, “It is a wonderful experience to train pilots to this ultimate level of competence and prepare them to save lives through this course.”

This is High-Performance upset training in supersonic aircraft using the T-38 Talon. Highly experienced instructors teach professional civil pilots to understand the characteristics of transonic and supersonic flight by relating aerodynamic theory to practical flying.

VP of Operations, Scott Glaser, explains why this course is unique and the first of its kind: “Civil jet aircraft have evolved into extremely high performance machines. Unfortunately, pilot training has not evolved at the same pace.  These aircraft are capable of very high altitudes and speeds, approaching supersonic, where airplanes behave differently than they do at slower speeds.  As such, a different set of skills is required to deal with upsets in this flight regime which are not taught to civil pilots. FAA Advisory Circular 61-107A details that a number of corporate jet airplanes have been involved in catastrophic loss of control during high-altitude/high-speed flight. Airplanes unintentionally exceeded the speed of sound during upset with catastrophic results due to lack of pilot training.  Flight Research provides the solution to fill this training gap, HiPer URRT.”

Flight Research URRT meets all FAA, EASA, and ICAO upset training compliance standards. It is a necessary part of any safety and training program as the most robust and comprehensive upset training in the world.

Tune in to see Flight Research, CEO Bill Korner address Loss of Control and pilot training on Fox Business Network this Sunday.

Superior in-flight experience and global coverage seduces elite Chinese travellers

VistaJet voted Business Jet Operator Star Performer at Hurun Research Institute’s “Best of the Best” Awards

  • Voted for by 449 High Net Worth individuals from more than 40 cities in China
  • Second time VistaJet has won the award
  • Company was also given the Best Charter Operator Award by Asian Business Aviation Association in November 2016

HONG KONG , Jan. 25, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — VistaJet, the first and only global aviation company, received the Business Jet Operator Star Performer accolade for the second time at the Hurun Research Institute’s “Best of the Best” awards in Shanghai. The awards are based on the results of the Hurun Report Chinese Luxury Consumer Survey 2017. This is the thirteenth consecutive year Hurun Research has produced a report on the brand preferences, consumption habits and lifestyle trends of China’s wealthiest individuals; considered a benchmark for the luxury sector.

To select the winners, Hurun Research Institute visited 449 of the most influential high net worth individuals in China, who voted based on their personal experiences. Each of the voters has assets of over CNY 10 million, and has travelled by private jet previously. The aviation entrants were judged against a broad range of metrics including customer service, global coverage, and in-flight experience.

VistaJet has seen strong growth both globally and in Asia in recent years. It has increased the size of its fleet from 32 aircraft in 2013 to 71 today, and the company now regularly serves over 90% of the globe. The company saw triple digit growth in flights from Europe and the US to Asia in the first half of 2016, with Greater China proving particularly popular. With a dedicated Chinese-registered aircraft, VistaJet is one of the few international operators with the ability to fly domestically in the country through its partnership with Apex Air.

VistaJet is committed to offering the highest in-flight standards in the industry. That means more than just providing the space and convenience of a private aircraft. Everything in the journey can be personalised, from the temperature of the cabin to the dining experience, the cocktail menu to the in-flight entertainment. Every aircraft comes with a complete office suite, custom fitted Skysleeper mattresses and cashmere blankets, as well as a cabin crew trained by the British Butler Institute to welcome customers on board.

One of the key factors that differentiates VistaJet from its competitors in Asia is its unique business model, which gives customers an unrivalled level of flexibility. Customers only pay for the hours they are in the air, there are no positioning fees, and no asset risk. Because the company has invested to grow its fleet, it can offer something no one else in the market can, a truly global service that is consistently best in class.

Chairman and Founder Thomas Flohr said:

“China is an incredibly important market for us, so we are proud to have received the Business Jet Operator Star Performer accolade for the second time at Hurun Research Institute’s Best of the Best Awards.“

We know that consistency of service is important in Asia. That is why we have invested in our fleet and service, so that not only do all our aircraft look and feel the same, but we can also offer the same high service levels, regardless of whether a customer is flying from Shanghai to London, or New York to Tokyo. That’s something our competitors can’t match”.

Philippine Airlines Signs Letter of Intent to Acquire up to 12 Bombardier Q400 Aircraft

– Airline becomes launch customer of extra-capacity, two-class Q400 aircraft

– The 86-seat aircraft will feature 10 premium service seats

TORONTO, ONTARIO–(Marketwired – Oct 14, 2016) – Bombardier Commercial Aircraft announced today that Philippine Airlines, Inc., flag carrier of the Philippines, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to acquire up to 12 Q400 aircraft.

“For close to a decade, the Bombardier Q Series family of aircraft has been instrumental in evolving our domestic network operations,” said Jaime J Bautista, President and Chief Operating Officer, Philippine Airlines. “We are proud that our continued fleet growth now makes us the first airline to launch service with the two-class, 86-seat Q400 aircraft. As we strive to become a 5-star-rated airline, the Q400 aircraft, featuring a modern and innovative configuration, will be instrumental in providing our travellers with a world-class, in-flight passenger experience.”

“Integrating the extra-capacity, two-class Q400 aircraft into its operations is the ideal solution for Philippine Airlines as it reshapes its domestic air travel strategy,” said Fred Cromer, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “With its perfect balance of passenger amenities and operational flexibility, the 86-seat Q400 aircraft will offer Philippine Airlines significant opportunities to differentiate itself in the region’s fiercely competitive environment.

“We look forward to working with Philippine Airlines to reach a firm purchase agreement for Q400 aircraft,” added Mr. Cromer.

“As Philippine Airlines looks to develop its domestic operations from secondary hubs and increase intra-island connectivity, the 86-seat Q400 aircraft — the largest two-class turboprop aircraft available on the market — will increase the carrier’s competitiveness by offering the lowest seat-mile and operating costs in the regional aircraft market,” said François Cognard, Vice President, Sales, South-East Asia and Australasia. “Our continued collaboration will undoubtedly set the stage for another decade of profitable and efficient operations for Philippine Airlines.”

Bombardier’s Dash 8/Q Series turboprops and CRJ Series regional jets have made significant advances in the Asia-Pacific region where approximately 190 aircraft – including more than 165 Dash8/Q Series turboprops — are in service with, or ordered by, over 25 customers and operators.

Bombardier’s customer support network for commercial aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region includes Regional Support Offices in Narita (Tokyo), Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai and Mumbai, as well as Parts Depots in Sydney, Beijing and Singapore. Operating from the company’s regional office located in Singapore, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft’s sales and marketing team is well positioned to provide industry-leading solutions to its current and prospective customers.

By offering a 30 per cent reduction in fuel burn over the jets it often replaces, the Q400 aircraft radically reduces carbon emissions and increases cost efficiency. Its high-speed cruise — 160 km/h faster than conventional turboprops — places the aircraft’s flight time within minutes of jet schedules, at the same seat cost as larger single-aisle jets. Its large propellers operate at a lower RPM, generating more power with less noise and making it a friendly option for city centres.

The Q400 aircraft family includes over 60 owners and operators in almost 40 countries. The worldwide fleet has logged more than 6.9 million flight hours and has transported more than 429 million passengers. Long recognized as a high-value asset by operators, the Q400 aircraft is now also attracting growing interest from the leasing community.

Bombardier has recorded firm orders for a total of 565 Q400 aircraft.
