Cambodia Welcomes 3.7 Million Foreign Visitors in First 9 Months

Cambodia’s Secretary of State for Tourism H.E. Tith Chantha said some 3.7 million foreign tourists visited the Kingdom during the first nine months of this year, up about 5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Speaking to reporters at the CamFood/CamHotel 2016 opening ceremony here last week, H.E. Tith Chantha said this year, Cambodia is expected to welcome up to 5 million foreign visitors until the end of this, generating jobs for 600,000 Cambodians.

According to the World Bank’s East Asia and Pacific Update report released recently, the growth in the tourism sector remained moderate despite a recovery in tourism activities in neighboring countries, particularly in Thailand and Vietnam.
