Court disposes of forgery case against former TV host Sorayuth

The Criminal Court today ordered the deposition of the case against former well-known TV host Sorayuth Suthassanachinda on charges of forging and using fake documents after ruling that the state prosecution is a double jeopardy.

The court’s order came as the lawyers of the former TV host and two other defendants appeared in the court to hear the charges filed against them by the prosecutor.

Four were accused in the case involving the cheating of airtime amounted to 138 million baht of MCOT Plc.

They are Sorayuth and two executives of his Rai Som Co, and a former employee of the state owned MCOT Plc.

Today only the former MCOT employee Mrs Pichapa Iamsa-sard, appeared in the court to hear the charges.

The court reasoned in its deposition of the case that the four defendants have already been convicted to prison terms on the charges and now they are on the appealing process.

The prosecution of the four defendants on the same charges is a double jeopardy that forbids accused persons from being tried again on the same charges and on same facts, the court said.

The prosecutors planned a meeting to appeal the judgment.
