Koh Chang: A fire broke out at an abandoned boat hotel on Koh Chang, Trat Province, damaging all 7 floors. Forensic officers are preparing to investigate the cause of the fire.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred yesterday in a seven-story abandoned hotel boat located in Ban Bang Bao, Koh Chang Tai Subdistrict, Koh Chang District, Trat Province. Initial reports indicate that the fire began on the lower floor of the bow of the boat, subsequently spreading rapidly to the upper levels and reaching the stern. More than 50 firefighters from Koh Chang Tai Subdistrict Municipality, Koh Chang Subdistrict Municipality, rescue units, and related agencies were deployed to combat the blaze. However, strong winds and the aged wooden materials of the structure exacerbated the fire’s spread, making it difficult to extinguish. The narrow windows further complicated the firefighting efforts, necessitating several hours of water spraying.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined as authorities await the fi
ndings from forensic officers. Initial investigations have not yet clarified the extent of the damage or pinpointed the origin of the blaze.
