Labour Minister Assigns Assistant to Drive ‘Chonburi Model” Providing Proactive Covid-19 Screening in Workplaces to Boost Investor Confidence


Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister to drive the “Chonburi Model,” monitoring proactive Covid-19 screening in workplaces. The initiative aims to boost confidence among investors, private companies, tourists, and the public, to prevent and control the pandemic’s spread.
On January 21, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong to visit Chonburi, to monitor the proactive implementation of Covid-19 screening in the workplace for employees insured under Section 33. The measure provides Covid-19 screening, carried out proactively in the workplace, following the Labour Minister’s policy. The Assistant to the Labour Minister said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, has concerns for the workforce and all groups of people. Therefore, various measures have been ordered and implemented following the government’s orders. Therefore, the Labour Minister has proactively worked with the relevant sectors in the working area to prevent and control the spread of the disease to be limited in areas, not cause a widespread infection. This will affect the national economy both directly and indirectly and the well-being of people all over the nation.
 Mr. Surachai said that the ‘Chonburi Model’ is a policy by Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin to prevent and control infectious diseases among communities, workplaces, or major tourist attractions, including restaurants, department stores, and service shops. In addition, this will alleviate the Ministry of Public Health’s workload in monitoring and investigating diseases and build confidence among investors, tourists, businesses, employees, tourism and hotel businesses, and the general public to have confidence in traveling around Chonburi safely and free from Covid-19. There are proactive Covid-19 screening measures in all dimensions as it is the most controlled area, and many infected cases have been found in many districts such as Si Racha, Mueang, and Banglamung.
“The proactive Covid-19 screening today has received good cooperation from workplaces, department stores, shops and factories in Si Racha and Mueang districts, which is considered to be an integration of collaboration between the Chonburi Provincial Administration, Social Security Office, and hospitals in the entire network, including Phyathai Hospital and Vibharam Hospital. The efforts have provided proactive Covid-19 screening to about 800 insured persons under Section 33. Anyone who tests positive will enter the treatment process as determined by the Ministry of Public Health,” concluded Mr. Surachai.
