Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat has taken the lead as the candidate most favoured by the public as the next Thai prime minister, according to the latest opinion survey conducted by NIDA Poll.
The National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) gauged the opinions, by phone, of 2,020 respondents, aged 18 and over, in various occupations and of differing educational backgrounds nationwide between March 10th and 15th. The margin of error is +/- 3%.
The respondents were asked whom they support as to become the next prime minister. The findings show 27.62% are undecided.
Other findings show 13.42% support Move Forward party leader Pita, citing his vision, concern for the youngergeneration, his straightforwardness and working style.
12.67% chose Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, citing his honesty, his government’s practical policies to help the people and his capability to restore peace in the country.
12.53% opted for Paetongtarn Shinawatra, head of the “Pheu Thai Family”, citing their support for the previous achievements of the Shinawatra family.
8.22% opted for Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, chairman of the Thai Sang Thai party, for her previous experience in the government and party policies.
7.03% of respondents favoured Pol Gen Seripisut Temiyavet,of the Thai Liberal party, citing his decisiveness, determination and straightforwardness.
3.61% said they were not interested who becomes the next prime minister.
2.77% voted for Korn Chatikavanij, leader of the Kla party, citing his economic expertise and recognition among foreign businessmen.
2.58% voted for Democrat party leader Jurin Laksanawisit.
The remaining 5.59% voted for a host of other potential candidates, from Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul to former deputy prime minister Somkid Jatusripitak, former commerce minister Mingkwan Saengsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and others.
The survey also shows that 28.86% of the respondents do not support any political party, 25.89% vowed support the Pheu Thai party, 16.24% said they favour the Move Forward party,7.97% said they support the Democrat party, 7.03 % said they support the Palang Pracharath party, 2.28% said they support the Thai Liberal party and 2.18% said they favour the Thai Sang Thai party.
Compared to the poll conducted by Nida Poll in December, support for the Palang Pracharath and Thai Liberal parties has dropped, while support for the Pheu Thai, Move Forward, Democrat, Thai Sang Thai, Bhumjaithai and Kla parties has increased.
