Pope Francis The head of the Roman Catholic Church has arrived in Mongolia. This is the first pope to visit Mongolia, where the majority of the population is Buddhist.
The 86-year-old Pope arrived in Mongolia this morning local time. It is a 9 hour flight from Rome. His visit is scheduled to last until Monday. This is his second visit abroad in a year, after visiting Kazakhstan in September 2022. Mongolia has just 1,400 Christians out of a total population of about 3.4 billion.
And while his private plane flew through Chinese airspace with which the Vatican has no official relationship. The Pope sent a telegram to President Xi. China's Jinping expressed his best wishes to him and the Chinese people. along with blessings for unity and peace while the Chinese government sent a telegram back saying China wishes to strengthen mutual trust with the Vatican.
