Bangkok: Family mourns after receiving body of watermelon vendor burned by rival in parking lot of famous temple in Yan Nawa area. Son asks perpetrator to surrender and accept karma for what he did.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred on the night of February 8th in a parking lot of a famous temple in the Yan Nawa area. Investigators from Bang Phong Phang Police Station went to the scene and found a white pickup truck carrying watermelons on fire. In addition, there was a damaged motorcycle and one injured person, identified as Mr. Rachen, aged 53, whose body was burned almost 80%. Officers provided assistance before sending him to the hospital, where he later died.

The perpetrator was identified as Mr. Akkorn or Plearn, 46 years old, a former driver of the abbot of the temple. The deceased was also an officer taking care of the temple. Both parties had a quarrel over an affair for about 1 month. Before this, the perpetrator had broken up with his girlfriend. Then he found out that the woman was getting to know the deceased, so he became jealous. Before the incident, the injured person brought watermelons to sell at the temple as usual and parked his car at the scene as usual. At that time, the perpetrator walked in carrying a bag of oil, threw it at the injured person, and immediately set it on fire before running away.

The latest this afternoon, the family of Mr. Rachen, the deceased, traveled to receive the deceased's body for religious ceremonies at the Chulalongkorn Hospital's Forensic Medicine Building. The atmosphere was filled with sadness. The relatives took the body to Wat Dok Mai, Bang Phong Phang Subdistrict, Yan Nawa District, for religious ceremonies.

Mr. Thewadet, 29, son of the deceased Mr. Rachen, revealed that the perpetrator and the deceased had known each other for a while since both of them had helped with work at Wat Dok Mai before, but he did not know how close they were. He was not sure what caused the incident, and it was unlikely to be an affair. He did not think that this would happen to someone in his family. His father was the pillar of the family who took care of his children even though he had already separated from their mother. He would like to ask the perpetrator to come out and surrender and accept the consequences of his actions. If the perpetrator comes to ask for forgiveness or apologize, he will not forgive them and will prosecute the case to the fullest extent of the law.

As for the progress of the case, the investigation team is currently tracking down Mr. Akkorn, the perpetrator, and has been charged with 2 counts: arson and premeditated murder. It has been reported that the perpetrator has fled to the northeast.
