Sejong Institute relocated to downtown Seoul

The Sejong Institute, a think tank specializing in diplomacy and security, held a reception Tuesday to celebrate its relocation to downtown Seoul. The institute, established in 1983 and previously based in Pangyo, south of Seoul, has recently moved to Seoul's central Gwanghwamun area, where the foreign ministry is located. "We aim to make a meaningful contribution, albeit small, to the future of the nation from the forefront of diplomacy and security," said Chairman Lee Yong-joon in his opening remarks. Citing the global polycrisis, both Lee and Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul called for strengthening international solidarity based on the South Korea-U.S. alliance. "The Sejong Institute is expected to be a close partner to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working as a neighbor and companion to navigate the future of our diplomacy and unification," Cho said. The Sejong Institute, one of the leading research institutes in international diplomacy and security, is a non-profit organization founded to honor Sou th Korean officials killed in a North Korean terrorist attack in Myanmar.
