SRT Enforces Alcohol Ban on Trains to Ensure Passenger Safety

Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has issued a strict prohibition against the consumption of alcohol on trains, following incidents involving intoxicated passengers. Police officers, in collaboration with railway officials, conducted a safety inspection on Express Train No. 52, which runs from Chiang Mai to Krungthep Aphiwat, and discovered passengers consuming alcohol. These passengers were subsequently warned about the violation of regulations and were asked to disembark at the next station for safety reasons.

According to Thai News Agency, the SRT is urging all passengers to cooperate with the new regulation to ‘refrain from drinking alcohol’ on any type of train service. This measure aims to maintain safety and peace during travel, ensuring that the rights of all passengers are respected. The railway officials emphasize the importance of traveling with discipline and shared responsibility to create a safe and pleasant environment for everyone on board.
