Thailand’s Oil Reserves Secure Amid Middle East Conflict

Bangkok: The Department of Energy Business is preparing to address potential disruptions caused by the escalating conflict in the Middle East, assuring the public that Thailand’s oil reserves are sufficient to last for 60 days.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sarawut Kaewtatip, Director-General of the Department of Energy Business, highlighted that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, particularly with the attacks on military and nuclear facilities in Iran, could impact oil production and exportation from the Middle East to Thailand. The department, along with related agencies, is closely monitoring the situation to assess the risks and prepare accordingly. Currently, the available fuel oil stock is deemed adequate to meet domestic demands.

Thailand’s reserves include approximately 3,104 million liters of crude oil, enough for 23 days, 2,597 million liters of crude oil in transit, sufficient for 20 days, and 1,886 million liters of finished oil, covering 17 days of demand. Collectively, these reserves provide a buffer of 60 days.

The public is advised to remain calm and rely on official updates from the government. The Department of Energy Business, part of the Ministry of Energy, is committed to mitigating the impact of the conflict on the public to the greatest extent possible.
