Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit The Minister of Industry (O.K.) revealed that on March 14, 2023, the Cabinet approved the initial sugarcane price setting for the 2022/23 production season in all 9 districts, calculating the same price of sugarcane at the rate of 1,080 baht per ton of cane at Sweetness level at 10 cc.s. and set the rate of up-down of sugar cane price equal to 64.80 baht per 1 cc. unit and the initial yield of sugar production and distribution is 462.86 baht per ton cane. as proposed by the Ministry of Industry so that sugarcane farmers can use the money as working capital for cultivation Sugarcane maintenance and further livelihoods
Mr. Panuwat Triyangkunsri, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry Acting Secretary-General of the Cane and Sugar Board (Sor.) said that after the Cabinet has approved the initial price of sugar cane for the year 2022/23, Sor. will announce it in the Government Gazette. to take effect And the sugar factory will continue to pay sugarcane to sugarcane farmers.
However, setting the initial sugar cane price and the initial yield of sugar production and distribution production season 2022/23 This is in accordance with the resolution of the Cane and Sugar Board (Kon.) on February 6, 2023, which received opinions from sugar cane farmers, sugar factories and stakeholders.
As for the issue of sugar dispute under the World Trade Organization (WTO) between Thailand and Brazil, there is no issue about the criteria and method for calculating the initial sugar cane price.
