Toon Bodyslam’s charity run donations to be handed over to 11 hospitals Feb 25
The Phramongkutklao Hospital Foundation will hand over the first amount of donations from rocker Artiwara Toon Kongmalai’s Kaokonlakao (Step by Step) charity run to 11 public hospitals on Feb 25.
The hospital director Maj Gen Nimit Samothan said today (Jan 31) that Phramongkutklao Hospital foundation, which is in charge of collecting the donations from the 2,215-kilomtre charity run, would conclude total amount of charity cash-giving for the scheme by today so that it could give the money to 11 public hospitals that are in need of the fund to procure medical equipments for use.
But he said the foundation would continue to receive donations from the people until May 31.
Until today, the total donated amount was 1,368.4 million baht, according to the Kaokonlakao Facebook page.
Directors of the 11 public hospitals will be invited to the hand-over ceremony at Railway Park in Bangkok on Feb 25. After that a meeting would be held to discuss each hospital’s plan to spend the donations, Maj Gen Nimit said.
Toon’s 55-day charity from the southernmost district of Betong in Yala province to northernmost Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai was held between Nov 1 to Dec 25 last year.
In total, he ran through 20 provinces, and covered a distance of 2,215 kilometres.
Toon planned to raise 700 million baht from his run, but by the end of the run, over 1,300 million baht was raised.
The 11 state-run hospitals to receive the donations are: Yala Hospital in Yala province; Surat Thani Hospital (Surat Thani); Ratchaburi Hospital (Ratchaburi); Chaophraya Yommarat Hospital (Suphan Buri); Saraburi Hospital (Saraburi); Khon Kaen Hospital (Khon Kaen); Chaopraya Abhaiphubejhr Hospital (Prachin Buri); Nakornping Hospital (Chiang Mai); Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital (Chiang Rai); Nan Hospital (Nan); and Phramongkutklao Hospital (Bangkok).
