Bangkok: The Transport Spokesperson firmly stated that the vehicle involved in a recent accident was not equipped with an NGV gas system. Krichanon Aiyapanya responded to claims made by the PPRP spokesman, emphasizing that the bus involved utilized diesel fuel, not NGV, and criticized the spreading of misinformation that could mislead the public. The Ministry of Transport is committed to enhancing public transportation safety and reducing road accidents.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kritchanon Aiyapanya, who serves as both the Assistant Minister to the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry's Spokesperson, addressed accusations made by Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya Tawichai from the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP). The PPRP spokesperson had accused the government and the Ministry of Transport of neglecting public safety by not addressing frequent bus accidents. Mr. Kritchanon argued that these accusations were based on inaccurate information, potentially leading to public misunderstanding and contributing to the spread of fake news.
The Ministry of Transport remains open to constructive suggestions from all parties, provided they are based on factual information. Mr. Kritchanon expressed disappointment that Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya, despite his background as a police officer, failed to verify the details of the incident before making public statements. Such actions, he noted, are regrettable and do not prioritize the interests of the country or its people.
Mr. Kritchanon clarified the specifics of the bus accident cited by Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya, where a passenger bus collided with a truck and caught fire on Highway No. 304 in Prachin Buri Province. Contrary to the claims, the Department of Land Transport reported that the bus operated on diesel and not NGV, and all safety equipment, including automatic valves, were properly installed.
The Ministry, under the leadership of Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, along with other relevant agencies, is committed to transforming Thailand's transportation system. They are actively working to implement comprehensive safety measures aimed at reducing bus accidents and enhancing public safety. This ongoing effort seeks to provide a safer and more reliable public transportation service for all citizens.
