Utility pole in footbridge in Sattahip district finally removed

Workers from the local electricity authority and a construction company removed a utility pole from a footbridge under construction today (Saturday), in front of a shopping mall in the Sattahip district of Thailand’s Chon Buri province.

The workers used a concrete cutting saw to cut the pole at its base and a crane was employed to lift the pole from the footbridge. The work took about three hours.

Officials said that workers will now remove all the cables from the pedestrian bridge, which is expected to be completed and reopened to the public in March or April.

The image of a utility pole in the footbridge went viral on social media last week, drawing criticism over how this had happened and expressions of concern over the safety of pedestrians.
