Disabled Workers’ Federation Meets MOL Secretary-General on “Situation of Thai Workers with Disabilities”

The Disabled Workers’ Federation met with the Secretary-General to the Ministry of Labour to discuss the “situation of Thai workers with disabilities” and propose the “1 Tambon 1 person with disabilities pilot project”.

On September 14, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Secretary-General to the Ministry of Labour Mr. Suthep Chittayavong and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat to welcome the President of the Disabled Workers’ Federation Mr. Chewanon Pornrathanikkun, and committee, to meet and discuss the “situation of Thai workers with disabilities” at the Mitmaitree Room 1, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The visiting committee also proposed issues to support the employment of people with disabilities in government agencies, as per the Disabled Persons Employment Law and the “1 Tambon 1 person with disabilities pilot project”, Thailand has over 9,652 sub-districts nationwide and if the government promotes and supports the employment of people with disabilities, they can increase the workforce for people with disabilities to over 9,652. The Disabled Workers’ Federation and the committee asked to meet today so that the Ministry of Labour is aware of the problem and can jointly solve the issue to achieve equality among all parties. The parties will also be able to assist according to their missions. Responsible departments were assigned to consider the relevant operations to support the creation of jobs, careers, and income for people with disabilities.
